Yule Goat - 71st Birthday

Born this day in 1952 in Nürnberg at approximately 6 a.m., the doctor was called away from a Christmas party. Mom said he was quite drunk and hilarious. They had a wonderful time!

As a Capricorn, I took note when Kristen sent this link to the Yule Goat. With roots in German Paganism, it is rumored to still influence holiday decorations and music in some places.

They Say It's Your Birthday

Traditionally watched in Germany on New Year's Eve, I enjoyed this yesterday: my birthday.

Then there's this...gleaned from an early post of Island Musings

Birthday Pie

Around age 5, my grandmother coached me on the art of biscuits. Later, Mom spent time teaching about scrambled eggs and cake so I could help out in the mornings & at least once a month when she would bake.

I cooked in the commune in Boulder when I was 16 and did the heavy-lifting for holidays after I married at age 22; it became a tradition that has carried through the decades.

Now that we have every THING we want, I gift Michelle with pies

This is for her 65th.

Art Saves Lives

So, most days I wake up with something we've named the gobloots. It's a generalized feeling of dread mixed with terror and helplessness. The name comes from a fictional ailment Ricky Ricardo once told Lucy she had. Usually it goes away in less than an hour.

You'll recall my mention of how a couple of weeks after I left the credit union, Bank of America called and offered me the Marketing Directorship of Albuquerque. I declined saying I'd just leased an art gallery space. Over the next four years I averaged $50,000.00 in sales, a fifth of what I felt was necessary to make the gallery viable. But art always came through for me even though the money never did.

I turned 68 this morning around 6:00 a.m.

I think my chances have come and gone. But its been a great ride!

Once More For Olde Time's Sayk

Birthday Song. (67)

(I was born around 6:00 a.m. The doctor was called from a party, but he had, my mother said, a wonderful sense of humor and they had a great time.)

And then there's this...

When I'm 64

Double El has, for decades, goaded me into sometimes dangerous, but always entertaining situations. Here I celebrate one of the pleasures of venerability...not taking myself (as) seriously.

Blackout B-Day CAke

It's a neurosis...when in town I never get full. It took a while for Susan to "walk on" and while she was ambling I embraced my increasing dimensionality as a "measure" of my commitment.

MDC's birthday came soon after and always warrants a grand celebration. And there's nothing better to celebrate with (besides ice cream) than cake!!
