Benton Station

Coming from the east, Boundary Peak can be, by me at least, mistaken for the Sierras.

The pies were baked by the Paiute women on the nearby Reservation. They made Benton Station a destination. This time, the store was closed and didn't look as if it was going to reopen.

The gas pumps were on...$6.85/gal for regular and $7.08 for premium. Water came from the spigot in front just like the olde days.

Highway 120 was closed at Benton Hot Springs. There was nothing to do but go back to Nevada.

  1. I wonder why she closed, do you know? Probably same old, that the little stores can not survive. And why was the highway closed?

    1. Hey Cutie,

I called Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation, and talked w their Public Information Officer. She said they were doing some repaving which would be done in a week, but the road was flooded higher up. They have to wait for the flood waters to recede before they can see if it caused any damage. No telling when that will be.

I too wondered about why the store closed. I couldn't find anyone to ask. My guess is it may have been a Covid casualty.
