Gillespie Bridge & Dam

A unique spot amidst a wasteland of agriculture. Last time I was here there were pelicans.

One can only imagine the riparian magnificence that prompted the construction. A local link to its history. Library of Congress history

She was up at first light and on location before the birds had a chance to realize.

  1. Both photos are good. The dam (excuse me), damn good. The arches of the hill, water edge and whatever the concrete part is are really nice and would be adequate but the straight lines bring depth which is hard two-dimensionally. The colors are great but I'm old...high contrast B&W would be good...OK...changing my mind...the warmth would be lost in B&W. Image capture, like a lot of things is timing, most often timing luck, but it does help to have the eye, to see it right before it happens.

    1. Art,

She is amazing! As it is, many of our evenings are spent reviewing what she captured. I never tire of seeing through her eyes.
