with the smell of yellow -- about 30 miles east of Gila Bend.
'Pring has 'prung.
The fragrance is a welcome anomaly. I've no idea what they grow out here, but for miles around it often reeks like the bathroom in the bus station of your nightmare. One can only imagine the effect on the lungs of those who live and work.
I will figure out what this yellow flower is, maybe Erysimum? Do you say the flowers smell like a urinal or like rose scented soap? Do you like the fragrance or not? It is not clear from what you write.
ReplyDeleteDearest,
DeleteYou KNOW what a challenge it is to describe a smell. But for you, I will try.
There are strong notes of honey with a hint of riesling. The fragrance, were it concentrated, would be "cloying," though in the wilds it's pleasant enough. It does not smell like lemon or pee.
It is all over this area, but seemingly only in this one spot.
Thank you!!
Are you seeing evidence of Spring?
Thanks! yes so i stick to my initial ID, Erisymum. Although i have to admit i never smelled it, i used google to tell me that 'your' Erysimum ' is fragrant. ('mine' is not) But no flowers here yet, and it is too cold too late in the season to expect early bloomers in April. it is going to be a late spring for wildflowers. This morning on our morning walk -25 C and a cold breeze, the woodpecker is been trying to attract a mate for a month now, a happy sign of spring in our regions.
