TV Tower Road

Crossing through Los Padres National Forest on highway 101, there's really only one place to stay. The narrow, winding road, is cut out of the cliffside

and it's not until you reach the ridgetop, with views of Amtraks (that silvery sliver in the middle right)

and the Pacific Ocean, that there's a level spot big enough to lie down on.

    1. Pepper, yes the return address is where to send anything. I'll be there for a few days at the end of March. I'll be in your neighborhood (sort of) around the 24th...passing through Superior. Any chance we could meet in Florence?

  2. These pictures are outstanding. The road looks perfect for carsickness but totally worth it.

    1. It's almost straight down on both sides. It's the one place in the area for dispersed camping and on the weekend I was there the place was overun with mountain bikers, hikers and all the rest, but even the rednecks in California are pretty cool so it feels totally safe. The gun club target range is on a parallel road a little ways below and they go from dawn to past dusk, but the views are spectacular!
