Tres Alamos - North of Wickenburg

About halfway between Wickenburg and interstate 40 (up north) on highway 93, the Tres Alamos Wilderness beckoned. It's classic Mojave Desert. Beautiful in its starkness, especially when everything is celebrating Spring.

Has anyone ever captured the incredible lustre?!!

By mutual agreement, Yvonne and I cancelled our meetup.

I headed west.

  1. I passed that way last week. A stop at Nothing to take some photos, a couple of nights off Ghost Town Road in Congress, a couple of nights at the Sophie's Flats trailhead north of Wickenburg.

  2. wow! It is amazing to me that from Yukon to New mexico, spring does start at the same time. Yesterday i encountered a pink flower, the only difference seems to be size, the flowers i saw were 1 mm wide, yours seems to be much larger:)

  3. the pink flower, has it cylindrical pads? ( not flat as in the prickly pear) It might be the Echinocereus engelmannii, Engelmann's Hedgehog. ( i might suggest ssp hermannii for the observer here at this blog.
